It’s been awhile since I got to photograph another wedding in Woodland Park, Colorado. Usually when I do a Colorado mountain wedding it is off I-70 and in Breckenridge, Vail or Keystone. But I love doing weddings closer to Pikes Peak as well and this wedding venue, The Edgewood Inn, is perfect for staying closer to Colorado Springs, but desiring a grand view of Pikes Peak as the backdrop for your wedding photos. And I adore this couple! Tiana and Brian miraculously met at Cowboys – I say miraculously because apparently Brian had a bit too much that night but apparently his charm and chivalry came through regardless. Brian is quite the romantic and to ask Tiana to be his wife when they went on a hike early in the morning in Cheyenne Canon on Columbine Trail. At the top of the overlook, Brian proposed.
Today was their wedding day and the weather was absolutely perfect for a November winter Colorado wedding, although no snow. Tiana opted to wear white Toms for her shoes (and later cowboy boots) but incorporated her grandmother’s pearls and her mother’s engagement stone/present from her father. Her dress is a deep v-neck lace bridal gown from Danelle’s Boutique with a sash to finish her classic look. The bridesmaids wore light grey short dresses with fur wraps to keep them warm. The men wore dark grey suits that they pulled off quite nicely.
These two decided to do a first look so that they wouldn’t miss as much time with their wedding guests. I never push this though and leave it to the couple as one of my fondest memories is of my husband’s teary eyed look as I walked down the aisle and he saw me for the first time. But first look’s can be just as special and intimate as you can see such love between these two.
Be sure to look at all of their photos all the way to the end as there was an amazing surprise for all of their guests at the end of the night. These two choreographed a swing dance to a Neal McCoy song that involved the splits, a few dips and a FLIP! Yes I said a flip! And at the end of the night we made sure to get a lovely milky way night shot of the two lovebirds to remember the stars, the view and one incredible night.
