“After every storm there is a rainbow (baby) of hope, here I am.”
All of my clients are good friends, practically family to me. However, this family holds an extra special place in my heart. Brian and Kelly (and son Ethan) I met years ago! First when I photographed another family member’s wedding. Then when they themselves were getting married I photographed their engagements and wedding day. In the summer of 2014, both Kelly and I were pregnant with baby boys and I was to photograph her little boy, Waylon, for his newborn photos. Unfortunately, I never got to meet sweet, little Waylon. A few days before his debut, little Waylon passed. Although his time was brief with his family, he will never be forgotten and he made a lasting impression in this world, including on myself. There is a wonderful organization of photographers and volunteers that donates their time to provide heirloom photos for families in these situations (NILMDTS).
A Rainbow Baby
Baby June is their rainbow baby. A rainbow baby is one that comes after the worst of a ravaging storm, bringing beauty and light from the darkness and clouds. And in her photos we wanted to pay tribute to that light and happiness that she brings into this world. Waylon is missed terribly but he now is the angel that watches over his family.
This family is the definition of love and strength and baby June is so blessed to be part of it. And although storm clouds will always hover as they continue living without Waylon, rainbow baby June provides a counterbalance of color, energy and hope. Even though you can only see a family of 4 here, it is actually a family of 5 that will forever remember their little (and big) brother.
