Baby Boy Gabriel

Baby Boy Gabriel

When baby boy Gabriel came to my studio for his newborn session, he was already 4 months old and 9lbs. His first few months were spent in the NICU as he was born at only 27 weeks old which is of course dangerously early.  I made a special trip to the NICU to capture some moments of how his life began and all the people that helped get him here.   Thanks to his doctors though, he is doing well and since being in the hospital since July, was released to go home on Thanksgiving!  What a wonderful gift for his mom! Mom still wanted a few studio shots now that the scary part is over.

Gabriel still had his oxygen tubes so I posed him, took some photos, carefully removed the tubes, shot a few more and put them back. Then I edited out the stickies in photoshop.  If you have a baby that was released home with oxygen or other medical needs, I’m happy to work with my clients to still get lovely images and keep baby safe.  And of course with Christmas around the corner, I incorporated a few Christmas props as well. We had fun posing him and mixing different props, bonnets and blankets to add variety to his gallery.

In a few weeks I will write a blog post about his time in the NICU, but for now, I wanted to share his newborn session. So happy to see him safe and happy in his momma’s arms.

Welcome to the world baby boy!

  1. […] Little Gabriel is near and dear to my heart. His mom, Amanda booked a Milestone Session Package with me, when she was pregnant. She wanted to document the first year of her little boy’s life. He was born really premature though, so I photographed him in the NICU, where he spent his first four months. We did his newborn session once he was released and old enough to come into my studio. He was still on oxygen at the time, so I was very careful to take the tubes out for some quick photos and photoshop out his stickies. Take a look at Gabriel’s NICU session and newborn portraits. […]
