Robyn and Brian have been married for 25 years. And together they’ve been through adoptions, deployments and even battled numerous brain tumors. More than most couples will battle throughout their entire lives. And through it all, they’ve stood beside each other, falling in love over and over again.
Last month I blogged about their “re-engagement” session with their 2 lovely daughters, but this post is about their big day. Robyn and Brian celebrated their 25 year wedding anniversary with a beautiful and heartfelt vow renewal at the The Club at Flying Horse in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They stood up in front of family and friends to renew their vows to one another in one of the most beautiful and tear jerking weddings ceremonies I’ve ever been a part of. It’s especially lovely to have a second wedding (really anniversary) where you can renew your vows now that so many changes in life have happened but also incorporate their children to set an example of love, commitment and marriage for them.
Robyn and Brian have an inspiring story, one that reminds us that life is all too fragile. For me, it really made me value all of the photos I have of my family and I. Knowing that if anything happens, at least I have those to look back on and to remember. Knowing that if nothing happens, they’re still there to remind me of where we’ve been and how we’ve grown together. As a photographer, it’s occasions like this, celebrating the memories of the past and the hope and excitement of the future, that remind me that what I do is REALLY important.
