Lower Lake Ranch wedding Day

Katie and Derik are a fun, laid back couple. They love the simple things in life, like outdoor adventures with their dogs and horseback riding. They’re also self proclaimed nerds and love playing video games and binge watching TV shows together.

They met almost 9 years ago at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana. They were both there obtaining degrees in engineering. At first they were just friends, but soon it became something more and in July of 2015 Derik asked Katie to be his wife!

They decided on a Lower Lake Ranch wedding after visiting and falling in love with the venue. They really liked how it has a rustic yet sophisticated feel, and also that their families could stay on site for the weekend. Almost all of their decorations were handmade by Katie and her family, and they complimented their wedding day perfectly. One of my favorite parts was the ring box for their new wedding rings. Katie’s uncle made that box himself from a tree on her grandfather’s property. I love this cherished gift which now can hold their rings for the short times they aren’t wearing them (like washing hands). Another special gift was a horseshoe wreathe also made by this especially talented and generous uncle!

The Day was just beautiful, with absolutely perfect weather so that a few special angels could look down and watch the wedding as if they were there. Katie and Derik’s wedding was intimate and beautiful, and I loved being a part of it!
