Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh My!
So of course little newborn babies are snuggly and I like to use a lovely (a stuffed toy) for them to snuggle in their photos. I guess I’ve been on a lion, tigers, and bears kick lately. I’ve loved incorporating fun animals into my newborn and milestone sessions. I just did a cake smash that was safari themed, and before that, I did one that was jungle themed! For this newborn session, one of the cute poses I did with little Brixton was what I call, lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! I dressed baby Brixton up in an adorable little bear bonnet and cozy sack and posed him in a basket with a lion lovey and a tiger lovey. I thought he looked pretty adorable! I actually got these little loveys at Baby Cotton Bottoms in Colorado Springs. They have the cutest and most unique items there!
Baby Brixton was actually two months old when he came in for his newborn session. At that age, they’re less sleepy and squishy and a bit more curious about the world around them. That can make it harder to pose them and get those cute sleepy baby photos we all love. With this session, we got lucky and this little boy slept a bit for us. We also got some, where he was wide awake though, which made for some pretty funny faces! I love his little Colorado flag hat and I always love when we get to do a few photos without outfits too. They’re so simple and sweet.
Sometimes parents just get really overwhelmed when their expecting a baby, especially if it’s their first child. There’s so much to do to prepare and photography can end up falling to the bottom of the list. So a lot of parents forget to do maternity photos, much less schedule a newborn session. When you add the holidays to the mix, oh boy! So sometimes babies come to me when they’re a little bit older, but I can always work around it and get lots of precious photos.
