You too, can have a gorgeous wedding at the Broadmoor like this, without taking out a second mortgage payment to pay for it.
This is how it’s done! This is how you make a small, intimate, budget friendly wedding fabulous! A lot of couples will take on this task but quickly realize it can be an impossible one. Weddings fall into the “you get what you pay for” category so saving money can stomp on the style you’re looking for. Here are some tips that worked for our bride, so take notes.
- Location: Some brides think you can’t have it all when it comes to saving money and location but that’s not always true. The Broadmoor is one of the most sought after wedding locations in Colorado and our bride made it work. Choose a slower or off-season day. The fall tree’s still look great on a Sunday afternoon. Maybe you can see yourself under outdoor white lights on a snowy Christmas Eve. If you can’t afford a Saturday evening wedding doesn’t mean you can’t have the venue of your dreams
- Your guest list is how big? This is a tough one, I know but do you really need to invite your mom’s third cousin and her three kids? The average cost per head at a wedding is $55 a plate. Think of all the money you could save slashing some names on that list. Adults only receptions or no co-workers is good places to start.
- Hire Someone! True or false, wedding planners are only for couples with big budgets (I’m trying to laugh as I write this)? FALSE!! Wedding planners not only have years of experience but they also have an “in” that you don’t. They know how to work with other vendors to save you money in ways to you never thought. I know, spending money to save money sounds crazy but trust me, it works.
- Etsy has what?!?! I’m a big fan of DIY but please don’t if you “can’t”. Etsy is full of people who can do it for at lower cost. Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Joann’s are also great places to look.
- Those who can’t buy, rent: Did you know you can rent more than just tables and chairs? Yes you can! These day’s you can rent chandeliers, sofa’s, outdoor lighting, alters, vases, bars. Forget a fold up table with a tablecloth for your place cards when you want is a vintage white desk. If you want it, someone will rent it to you.
- Cut back on time: Your wedding doesn’t have to be an all day event. Cutting back just a couple of hours will save you money on your planner, photographer, location and Dj for starters. Plus your guests will eat less food, drink less alcohol. It’s a win/win anyway you look at it.
- Cut out the cake: Yes, you can go to grocery store and get a wedding cake, but you don’t have to. A professional baker can give you amazing cupcakes or put together a dessert bar that will blow your mind. Your guest will love it and you’ll save money. Keep it to 1 tier.
- Get your priorities straight: Find out what’s important to you and spend your money there. It’s easy to forget but your wedding is about you, so do what you want. If you want to get married in your backyard and spend all your money on amazing food and a great band, then do that! I once had a couple say they wanted to get married on a hillside in Ireland with just a few friends and family. Then walk to a pub and eat bar food and drink beer. That sounds amazing! Find your happy place and make it work.
I hope these few tips help! Now check out our amazing wedding at the Broadmoor. With a small reception, ceremony on the balcony, cakes by mom and a breathtaking mountain backdrop.
