I’ve been doing Santa sessions for Christmas for the past few years now. This year, Santa photos weren’t an option because I couldn’t safely have Santa and kiddos in the same photo together. We have to keep Santa safe which meant I had to get creative. I started thinking of ideas in the summer to plan for my pandemic-proof holiday sessions. By early fall, I came up with the perfect idea, Reindeer Christmas sessions! A reindeer was the perfect Santa substitute because they are already part of Santa’s team. Plus, they don’t pose the risk of transmitting COVID and they already have to socially distance.
Reindeer Christmas Sessions – Holiday Card Photos
I created two holiday setups in my backyard in Monument, filled with evergreens and lots of holiday lights. How lucky am I to have these amazing woods right behind my house? I love using my backyard for sessions. I was able to rent a reindeer for the day of my holiday mini sessions. You can rent pretty much any animal for photos and events. Like llamas for your wedding! What a world we live in! Our Christmas reindeer, Comet, was perfectly content just roaming around in the background of my set. These reindeer Christmas session photos are so great for holiday cards and they will be such a great memory of the year we stayed home.
Comet was such a ham. The kids who came for photos also brought letters for Comet to give to Santa so he would know what to get them for Christmas. And each kid left with a special reindeer bell souvenir. The kids loved Comet and he adds such a fun Christmas flair. Well, most of the kids loved him. My kids however were terrified of him so I didn’t get any reindeer photos of my own family. Oh well! We still had two beautiful sets for our reindeer free Christmas card photos.
