Katelynne and Clayton did an incredible job incorporating their families, personalities, and their story into their sentimental Colorado wedding day. These two met through a mutual friend and started a long distance relationship through their undergrad years. They were finally able to live together during grad school. I think any relationship that can withstand years of being long distance, is sure to make for a strong marriage.
Clayton quickly knew that Katelynne was the one. After starting grad school and moving in together, he asked Katelynne’s father for permission to marry her. Soon after, Katelynne had a family crisis where her father almost died so the proposal was put on hold. Later that winter, Katelynn’s father had returned home from the hospital. Clayton proposed a couple weeks later, on New Year’s Eve, in front of both of her parents.
Katelynne is originally from Maryland but claims North Carolina as more of her home. She classifies herself as a beach bum. Clayton is a born and raised Wyomingite. He is the typical cowboy that you would envision and worked on ranches his whole life. Katelynne described themselves as being romantic and fun. They are honeymooning at Walt Disney Resort. They love Disney and they’ve always wanted to go during the holidays. After the wedding, they moved to North Carolina to start their married life together and plan for a family.
Wedgewood Mountain View Colorado Wedding – Katelynne + Clayton
Clayton and Katelynne’s wedding day was all about combining their styles and making sure everyone in their family felt comfortable. They went with a rustic, yet elegant vibe. They decided to have the wedding at Wedgewood Mountain View Ranch. The venue perfectly combined the western and the classic looks well. The couple was also looking for a mountain venue so this was the perfect choice for them! The whole day was about family, both the ones they came from and the one they would make together.
Since Clayton’s father had passed away, they made sure to incorporate him into the wedding. At the reception, he and his mother danced to the same song that his mom and dad danced to at their wedding.
They had many other sentimental and unique aspects to their day. After her father walked Katelynne down the aisle, her maid of honor sang for them during the ceremony. Their wedding cake was one of the most unique and colorful cakes I’ve seen! It told the story of the couple, with each tier representing a piece of their story. It was such a beautiful, sentimental Colorado wedding day!
