I was so honored I got to be a park of Amy and Nathan’s wedding day. I actually met Nathan a few years ago when he was a best man at one of my other client’s weddings. These two did everything right and really nailed how to get married in a pandemic. They kept a lot of their original plans, had their family with them, and made sure everyone was safe.
These two met on eHarmony and quickly had their first date at Starbucks. Amy has a daughter, Samantha, and Nathan has a son named Scott and a daughter named Shannon. Nathan proposed to Katie by sending her on a scavenger hunt! First, he sent her flowers at work. Then, the flowers and a note telling her to check Samantha’s backpack when she picked her up from school. Next, in the backpack, there was a letter telling Amy to look in the Harry Potter closet at home. Once again, the closet had a Harry Potter book inside along with a note saying that Nathan, Scott, and Shannon were outside with dinner. Then, they came in and Nathan asked Samantha if he could marry her mom. After Sam said yes, Nathan got down on one knee and asked Amy to marry him.
How to Get Married in a Pandemic – Amy + Nathan
As I said, Nathan and Amy really did everything right with their pandemic wedding. For years, Nathan had been attending Good Sheppard United Methodist Church and he had always wanted to get married there. I haven’t seen a lot of indoor wedding ceremonies lately, but they were able to do this one safely. The church seated the guests by household with all the groups spaced apart. There were about 30 people total and before the ceremony, Amy and Nathan FaceTimed some friends who couldn’t be there. In the church, all the guests had their masks on, even the kids (they were so well behaved!). Nathan and Amy only took their masks off during the ceremony.
After the ceremony, we all went outside for the family portraits. I even offered to take photos of people and photoshop them in with the couple but got no takers. Outside, the couple had a table set up with individually packaged cupcakes in everyone’s preferred flavors. They even had one just for me! We went to a nearby park for their newlywed portraits and even got some awesome mountain views. Next summer, they are hoping to go to New York City for their honeymoon. They’re also planning a big celebration next year with all their loved ones. Now that’s how you get married in a pandemic!
