Last month, I put together a blog post of all the different ways people have been getting married during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, I’ve photographed a few intimate elopements and I wanted to share them here. I’ve been working with my clients from the start to figure out the best way for them to adapt their wedding plans to this new reality. It has been so beautiful to see all those frantic changes and all that stress turns into a gorgeous wedding day. It may not have been the day the originally planned. In the end, though, all that matters is that you’re married. I have loved seeing my couples commit to their quarantine partner in the last couple of months. It is so special to see so much love in the middle of all the crises we are facing.
Will You Be My Quarantine Partner?
Robin and Collin flew in from Texas to have their destination wedding here in Colorado Springs. They were originally supposed to get married in Costa Rica, but with travel restrictions and safety concerns, they decided to change to a domestic location. I love that they were able to stay safe and still elope in a stunning place and make a little vacation out of it. They had a small ceremony, with just the two of them and their officiant, followed by their wedding portraits. Robin’s dress was actually her mother’s from the ’80s. Can you believe it? She took off the puffy sleeves and turned it into a sweetheart neckline. I love that she was able to have her mom with her through that dress.
Erica and Anthony were planning to get married in their hometown in Ohio. Anthony is stationed in the Springs so he was already out here and Erica decided to move out here so they could be together sooner. They canceled their Ohio wedding and eloped in Colorado Springs instead. These quarantine partners chose to keep things very intimate and had a ceremony with just the two of them before I came out to take their wedding photos.
Both couples got married at Garden of the Gods. This is one of my favorite elopement locations, especially for destination elopements. It really shows off the best that Colorado has to offer. I know all the best spots for intimate elopements with stunning views. Also, I have been making special masks for all of my couples getting married during the pandemic. I want them to have something to remember this time by. By the way, I wear a mask to every wedding and session I do, on top of other safety precautions I have been taking.
