How to Thrive while Pregnant

Pregnancy can be a beautiful and sentimental time, however, for some of my clients, there are challenges and mixed emotions that come with being pregnant. Even if you have waited years for this little baby, you can still have times you are regretful, overwhelmed or miserable and that is completely normal. It is a whirlwind time but I’m here to help! I want you to give you tips on how to thrive while your pregnant! I promise you deserve it and will be thankful you took this advice when you look back on this time.

There are many hurdles and stressors when you are pregnant that can make it so hard to enjoy being pregnant. I’ve had clients with hyperemesis gravidarum, hemorrhoids, varicose veins and intense hormonal emotions. There are medical emergent conditions like preeclampsia, gestational diabetes,  anemia and postpartum/depression. With all of these afflictions and more possible, it can be hard to enjoy pregnancy. However, with a few conscious, deliberate efforts, you can enjoy this fleeting time of being pregnant.

Tips to Follow

1. Cherish this time by doing a Maternity Session – You may not feel your best at this moment, but this is a time that you will never experience again, being pregnant with your first (or 2nd etc). Future you will thank you for treating yourself to a glamorous, memorable experience and memory.

2. Overindulge in your favorite approved treats and activities – So many things are off limits during pregnancy and it can be frustrating. So if you can’t have wine, treat yourself to more movies and popcorn. Or go on a baby moon to the beach. Eat your favorite not forbidden foods so you feel special.

3. Journal your thoughts, hopes and fortunes – Writing down even a sentence a day about something you are grateful for or a wish for your little baby will help so much when you are feeling down or just looking back on this time.

4. Mommy Spa Time – You may not be a touchy person but when you are pregnant, you definitely need some self care. Whether that may be a facial, pedicure or even maternity massage, you are caring for your baby and your body.

5. Find other preggos – I say this with love but misery loves company lol. Really though, who better to understand what you are going through than another pregnant woman in the same boat.

6. Have realistic goals and DELEGATE – There truly is so much to do when you are expecting. However, have realistic goals and if possible, delegate as much as possible. You can’t complete a nursery in a day, however, you can assemble a crib or pack a hospital bag.
