Little Virgil’s cake smash session was so much fun. This guy is such a character! I did his newborn session right after he was born, so it was really fun to see his big personality just a year later. Virgil is named after his dad, Virgil Green, a tight end for the Denver Broncos! Dad was on the team when they won the Super Bowl so we made sure to incorporate his commemorative 50th Super Bowl football into the newborn pictures. He also wore a cute little crown we have, so he wore the crown again for his cake smash session. The crown is adjustable, so it can be worn by newborns up to toddlers.
Virgil’s Cake Smash Session
First, we took some nice one-year-old portraits of Virgil. We had two outfits: jeans and a cute little hat, as well as some in a little blue suit. Isn’t he a handsome little guy!? This guy moved around a lot! He started walking at 10 month so by the time we did this session, he was getting really good at it. It is not easy keeping a mobile, walking kid in front of the camera, but we made it work!
Cake smashes take a bit of planning. First, we decide on a theme or color scheme. Then we pick out the outfits and order the perfect cake to tie everything together. I also put together a custom set and backdrop for each cake smash session. For this one, mom and dad wanted a King of the Jungle theme. I made a cheetah print loincloth for him to wear and a jungle backdrop with leaves and lots of jungle animals. We got a great animal themed cake from Icing on the Cake in Colorado Springs. The crown we used in his newborn session was perfect for this theme! This kid had way too much fun at his cake smash! He was dancing and making the funniest faces. His expressions are just priceless!
