Destination Wedding Lookout Mountain: Grandview Tennessee and Georgia
One year ago, I had the immense honor of photographing one of the most meaningful weddings of my career. Absolutely, it was A Destination Wedding at Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Naturally, as a Colorado wedding photographer who travels for destination weddings, this one held a special place in my heart. Not just because of the jaw-dropping views and flawless April weather, but because the bride, Raelyn, is someone I’ve known nearly my whole life.
First, years ago, I photographed my high school best friend’s wedding in California. Raelyn at the time was the adorable flower girl. Fast forward to today, and there she was—graceful, radiant, and glowing in a wedding gown. A total Disney princess if I ever saw one walking down the aisle as a bride herself. Talk about full circle moments.
Travel Wedding Photographer – Destination Chattanooga
Next, my second photographer, Devon and I made the journey from Denver to the Chattanooga to document Raelyn and Anthony’s celebration at Grandview on Lookout Mountain. Notably, the venue is perched next to the famous Rock City, offering a sweeping cliffside view that could make any photographer’s heart skip a beat. Before the wedding day, we met up with the couple for an engagement shoot at a nearby historic Civil War park. The area was filled with lush spring blooms, rustic rock formations, and even some charming flower walls that gave us the perfect romantic backdrops.
The wedding guests and couple made a point to enjoy all the area had to offer. If you are planning a trip to this area, consider taking the Incline Railway up the mountain. Once at the top, you can enjoy meandering through Rock City and the Civil War Monument and National Park. In addition, not too far away is Ruby Falls which I enjoyed even though I’m claustrophobic. I recommend 2-3 days to do it all and take it all in.
Wedding Day at Grandview Lookout Mountain
When wedding day arrived, the energy was pure happiness. One of the most unique and joyful touches? Remarkably, instead of traditional flower girls, Raelyn and Anthony had a crew of hilarious and enthusiastic “flower bros” tossing petals down the aisle. It was such a fun way to break tradition and set the tone for the celebration that followed.
Impressively, Raelyn and Anthony, both talented dancers, choreographed a stunning first dance that had every guest in awe. It was a beautiful representation of who they are as a couple: passionate, creative, and completely in sync. The personal touches didn’t stop there. Many of the wedding day details were DIY labors of love. Such as a breathtaking floating flower backdrop for their ceremony which added a whimsical, romantic flair for a spring wedding. Likewise, during the reception, guests enjoyed interactive games the couple had thoughtfully planned, adding an extra layer of fun and connection to the evening.
As the sun set over Lookout Mountain, the night ended with a sparkler send-off that felt like a fairytale finale. The lights danced in the dark, just like the couple had hours earlier, and we knew we were documenting memories that would last a lifetime.
Happy anniversary, Raelyn and Anthony. Your Destination Wedding at Lookout Mountain was unforgettable—and I’m so grateful I got to be part of it.
