Remember Alex’s second birthday session, where he got an awesome tractor toy as his gift? We did his session last fall in my studio and then out in a field, where his present was waiting for him. Well, now Alex has a new baby sister, Olivia!!! I love watching kiddos grow from newborn, through their first year and beyond. Hint: that’s why I offer three different milestone collections as well as child portrait and cake smash sessions! I also love watching my families grow too! It is incredible to see a wedding couple become parents or an only child become a big brother or sister. It makes me so happy to be a part of my client’s lives in this way!
While I am sure Alex will be an amazing brother to his new baby sister, he sure didn’t make photographing him very easy. I remembered that he was pretty rambunctious during his birthday session. Knowing this, I was prepared when his family came in with Olivia. I’ve always got lots of toys and snacks at newborn sessions so that I can bribe siblings into sitting and smiling. They worked for Alex… a little. I even let him play and pose for me on his own for a few photos. After lots of bribing and playing, and lots more head swapping in photoshop, we ended up with plenty of wonderful sibling and family photos.
New Baby Sister – Meet Olivia
We started the session with sibling and family photos so that we could capture Alex before he got worn out. It’s hard work being a big brother! Then after some parent photos, we got to wrap little Olivia up and take some posed newborn portraits. I chose some more feminine props, wraps, and backdrops. Some girls just look so good in pink and lace! We ended the session with a beautiful homage to her name. Mom brought in this gorgeous wreath made of olive branches. It was perfect! Olivia fit right inside and we got some lovely photos of Olivia in an olive wreath.
