I met Taylor and Matt at San Isabel National Forest for their engagement session earlier this summer. Matt had the idea to have a lakeside engagement session at San Isabel National Forest since he grew up in the area. This wasn’t the first engagement session I’ve had where the groom chose the location and so far, they’ve been picking great spots! I’m liking this trend! Although, what Matt neglected to tell me, is that he is banned from a lake nearby to San Isabel Lake because, in his youth, he set it on fire. Haha! I don’t even know how that’s possible but I’m sure it’s a great story!
Not all mountain locations require a permit but this one did. Every permit process is different depending on the location. Some permits have fees, others are free. Some are easy to get and don’t take long, but other’s have are complicated or have long wait times. This one was not the easiest. After being a Colorado photographer for as long as I have, I know how to navigate and plan for the permit process. It was totally worth it to get to photograph at this location! With the lake, mountains, and forests it was a total dream.
Taylor and Matt’s Lakeside Engagement
Matt and Taylor’s engagement session was beautiful! They are so cute and silly together. The just have the best chemistry! As we were heading back at the end of the session, we saw a HUGE herd of elk! This is one of the things I love so much about Colorado. I get to go to work and see amazing things in nature all the time. It’s pretty incredible. Well, we tried to sneak up on them for a few last photos but ended up scaring them away. Dang it! Taylor and Matt are getting married at Hatchet Ranch in Pueblo and I cannot wait!
