1 Year Cake Smash Celebration | Monument & Colorado Springs Photography Studio
One of our favorite milestone sessions at the studio is the 1 year old cake smash. It is a fun, messy, and joy-filled celebration of your child’s very first trip around the sun. Recently, we had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful one year old girl whose parents requested a soft, feminine theme with neutrals, florals, and pinks. I believe we delivered and were absolutely thrilled with how it turned out!

Our fully equipped photography studio located in Monument, Colorado is just a short drive from Colorado Springs. It is designed with comfort and creativity in mind. For this session, all props, outfits, and backdrops were provided by our studio, making the entire process stress-free for the family. From delicate floral arrangements to custom neutral-toned outfits, every detail was carefully chosen. We wanted to reflect a timeless, airy aesthetic while still being playful enough for a 1 year cake smash.

A First Birthday Party to Remember
Next, the cake itself came from the talented baker at I Heart Cakes, a local favorite here in Colorado Springs. It was the perfect size for smashing and matched the set beautifully. Naturally, our little guest of honor didn’t hesitate when it came time to dig in—she dove right into the cake with a huge smile and lots of giggles. Naturally it made for some of the cutest, most expressive photos you can imagine!
And let’s be honest—cake smashes can get messy! That’s why we include a quick, soothing bath session immediately afterward. Not only does it help clean off all that frosting, but it also provides another adorable photo opportunity. Our little one absolutely loved splashing around, and we captured some of the sweetest post-cake expressions as she enjoyed her mini spa moment.
