Just the Two of Them: A Boho Elopement at Garden of the Gods, Colorado
Some love stories don’t need an audience. They just need the right landscape, the right words, and two people who have already decided that they do. Of course, they do, completely and without reservation, belong to each other. Speaking of without reservation, you don’t need one for this picturesque park. A true elopement at Garden of the Gods was what this day was, and it was one of the most beautifully human days I have ever had the privilege of witnessing through my lens.
She wore a flowing boho gown with intricate floral detailing that seemed designed by nature itself for this very setting. He stood beside her in a deep forest green custom suit. I personally love purchased suit, a choice that was bold, intentional, and absolutely perfect against the ancient red rock formations surrounding them. Naturally, together they looked like they had stepped out of a dream. The landscape of Garden of the Gods hosted them there without missing a beat.
They chose a hand fasting ceremony weaving rope around their joined hands as they spoke vows written entirely in their own words. There was no officiant directing the moment, no program to follow. Just two voices, two hearts, and a promise made in one of the most awe-inspiring places on earth.
An America the Beautiful Backdrop
We wandered through several areas of the park, letting the light and landscape guide us. From the sweeping vistas to the dramatic rock formations, every setting offered something new. Although I’ve been to the park many times it’s not always easy for my clients. However, they moved through each landscape with a natural ease and joy that made my job an absolute pleasure.
Garden of the Gods has a way of making you feel both incredibly small and profoundly significant at the same time. For an elopement, there is no better feeling. It reminds you that love, at its core, is both ordinary and extraordinary — just like these two.
