A Historic Love Story: An Intimate Fall Coohills Denver Wedding
There is something undeniably magical about a wedding that feels like the city itself is celebrating with you. That was exactly the atmosphere when these two said their vows on the historic Wewatta bridge near Coohill’s Denver wedding venue and restaurant. This couple wanted a small, intentional gathering surrounded by the people who matter most and a backdrop that could not have been more perfectly Denver.
Thankfully, fall arrived right on cue. The warm amber and copper tones of the season framed the city. It was a scene with a richness that no decorator could replicate. That contrast — intimate ceremony and dynamic cityscape — made for photographs that feel both deeply personal and wonderfully alive.
Coohill’s, one of Denver’s most popular restaurants, served as host for both the ceremony and reception. The restaurant’s character added layers to every frame — exposed brick and steel, warm light, and the kind of atmosphere that invites people to linger, laugh, and truly be present with one another.

Because the guest list was small, there was a beautiful ease to the day. No need to rush — just two people, their circle, and an unhurried celebration of their commitment. As a photographer, those are some of my favorite weddings to document. When a day isn’t overscheduled, genuine moments have room to breathe. A quiet glance across the table. Unexpected rushes of emotion and laughter that catches everyone off guard.
The fall light in Denver is something photographers dream about but this day was a bit more cloudy than dynamic bright light and framing shadows. The fall colors, however, gave the pop of color and light that you expect for fall. Combined with the architecture of the bridge and the skyline stretching out behind them, we made portraits that I know this couple will treasure for a lifetime.
