Although Courtney & Tray are very much country and western people, they didn’t meet at a saloon or rodeo. They had more of a long distance romance until they met. They met finally in person, after a long awaited 2 months, and it was meant to be after that. They started making plans to be together and within 5 months she had uprooted her life to be with Tray in Westcliffe.
The venue for their wedding is in the same place they plan to plant some roots, Westcliffe. At Painted View Ranch, it’s namesake doesn’t lie and has the most gorgeous view of the wet mountains. Lush green tall grass spotted with patches of columbines and lilies and the rugged mountain tops. For a western wedding, it embodies everything that this couple loves: horses, ranch living and mountain remoteness. Although a hail storm came in fast and furious about 3 hours before the wedding, it was while the ladies were getting ready in the ranch home. It passed in about 20 minutes but just to be safe, the ceremony would be inside.
The groomsmen dawned green Ariat shirts, black wranglers, black cowboy hats and wild rags with some nice cowboy boots with Tray wearing a more formal vest and buckaroo type amazing green cowboy boots. The ladies also had cowboy boots, even our bride, and wore bright green dresses.
Inside a huge arena, panels were lined with trees branches and candles to a gateway that opened to the ceremony area with straw/hay bales for the guest seating. Tray & Courtney chose not to see each other before the wedding so the moment she walked down the aisle with her father was the first for Tray. Tray’s father conducted the ceremony as the officiant. After the emotional ceremony, we took advantage of the amazing views and did the family photos as well as the photos of the lovebirds.
If you are looking for an authentic, wild rag, western, rustic, cowboy wedding lol….look no further. It’s as authentic as you can get.
