Precious Newborn Alexandra

A few months back, when I photographed this maternity session in my studio, little Sophia was so excited to be a big sister! We had so much fun at their session with portraits inside my studio and then outside with the gorgeous Rocky Mountain backdrop! Today, Sophia is loving being a big sister to her newborn baby girl Alexandra. She is so precious with her, spoiling her with forehead kisses and playing with her tiny fingers and toes. It melts my heart when I see siblings taking care of their baby.

Sophia I actually photographed as a “bump” and a newborn.  Her parents are dear friends of our family and it is so nice to be able to see both of our families grow and get to see their personalities in these adorable and independent little girls.  When Sophia was a baby, I came and saw her in the hospital and then later in their home to get some photographs of their first born.  She was such a little doll too.  Just look at that hair!  Actually both her and baby sister Alexandra look like twins 🙂

Since it is pretty much impossible to predict Colorado weather in May  (it could be 80 degrees or a blizzard), we did their newborn session in my studio. I love the flexibility of switching out props and blankets while baby sleeps and being able to provide a variety of portraits in the gallery. My studio also allows the family to have a quiet and personal session to capture the bond with their new addition. Sessions aren’t just about getting photos. Frequently, it’s one of the few times a family can spend together carefree. They can leave all the daily distractions behind and enjoy each other’s company while I document this precious yet fleeting time of their life. Photo sessions are a great way to celebrate your family milestones.
