WPPI is a huge international conference and expo for wedding and portrait photographers, in Las Vegas. Every year, hundreds of professional photographers gather for this event. I try to go every year and it is always so informative, inspirational, and lots of fun! It is a three day event, and by the end, everyone is so exhausted. But I always leave revved up and excited to implement all that I’ve learned into my business. There are plenty of shoot outs for attendees to participate in and get some Las Vegas portraits for their portfolios. Plus there are tons of classes, contests, and the massive expo floor. I even won one of the contests! I couldn’t believe it! More about that later though.
This year, I wanted to take some Las Vegas portraits of my own. I knew I wanted to take photos of a couple on one of the dry lake beds surrounding the strip. I ran into Carrie King, a Colorado Springs fine art wedding photographer and friend, who had brought her husband along for the trip, and I told her my idea. She was just as excited as I was, so we headed out for a photo shoot!
Las Vegas Portraits with Carrie King
This session was so much fun! We had a couple dresses to play with and we just went with the flow. I took some photos of Carrie and her husband in front of the gorgeous mountains. Then Carrie wanted to take pictures of me! Yes, there are photos of me modeling in a dry lake bed! Scroll down to see them! The light was just so amazing, I couldn’t resist taking a few more of Carrie by herself. Isn’t she stunning!
Well, we weren’t the only ones who had that idea. There were lots of other people doing their own photoshoots, as you can see by all the cars behind me in my portraits. The best part was that there was a boudoir photo shoot happening with a bunch of plus size models, right next to us. This seems to be a trend for me! Hahaha! At one of my last engagement sessions at Garden of the Gods, I had to keep cropping out a boudoir session, and it was a freezing winter’s day!
