Grand Lake Wedding – Kylie + Jake

Jake and Kylie planned a romantic, rustic Grand Lake wedding on the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park. They wanted to have a day of getting together with ALL of their family and so they could both meet everyone important in each others lives. These two LOVE Rocky Mountain National Park and the rustic outdoors look. They wanted to bring that rustic mountain feel into their wedding day. Having their wedding at an outdoor barn by the river, and right across from the national park was pretty much perfect!

Kylie and Jake met when Kylie was in college at Colorado Christian University. Kylie was living with Jake’s cousin and they met each other through her. Jake proposed at the same lake where they had their first date. I absolutely loved their wedding hashtag! Their last name is Spicer so they made their hashtag #welikeitspicy. How cute? They’ll be going to Quebec, Canada for their honeymoon and also hitting Montreal during their trip.

One of the most important moments of their day was their first look. A lot of people planning a traditional wedding opt to skip the first look, but having that time alone together before the ceremony was important for Kylie and Jake. They wanted to be the first to see each other with nobody else around. They also wanted to have a quiet moment alone to pray together before the ceremony. I love when couples take some time together to do something special on their wedding day. Luckily, they let me be there to capture it all!

Kylie and Jake had gorgeous weather on their wedding day although it was a bit unusual. That just makes their day more unique though! It was a hot August day with lots of sun. Since it was wildfire season, we had a lot of smoke from the fires out west. On top of that, there was a dust storm to contend with! This gave everything a bit of a haze that gave a unique look to their wedding portraits. The funniest part of the day, though, had nothing to do with the weather. During the toasts at the reception, a cute, little chipmunk crashed the party! This is what you get with a Colorado wedding!
