Kayla and I go way back and in October, she had the most beautiful Colorado Springs wedding and I got to photograph it! When they were 16-years-old, Tyler and Kayla first met at a local car club. As they grew up, they went their separate ways but in January 2015, they ran into each other again at Gasoline Alley, a rock and roll themed bar and grill in Colorado Springs. They’ve been dating since that night! Then, at The Collective, a gastropub in Colorado Springs, Tyler jumped onto the bar singing “Let’s Get Married” by Jagged Edge and proposed to Kayla!
Cozy Vintage Colorado Springs Wedding – Kayla + Tyler
Tyler and Kayla wanted their wedding day to be rustic, cozy, vintage, and of course, full of romance. Their color scheme was burgundy and peach, which brought beautiful, bold tones to the already stunning fall scenery. Kayla wore bedazzled Converse with a burgundy ribbon as the shoelaces. Throughout the day, their baby boy, who was dressed up the cutest little tux, was included every step of the way. He got carried down the aisle with the wedding party and we made sure to get some family photos of the three of them.
During the ceremony, officiated by Tyler’s best friend, they had a love lock ceremony, where they locked a padlock onto a heart photo frame. Now, they can fill that frame with a photo from their wedding day! They incorporated whiskey and bourbon throughout their reception, with big bottles as centerpieces and tiny bottles topping the cake. It was the cutest use of those little airplane bottles I’ve ever seen!
Kayla and Tyler’s newlywed portraits may have been my favorite part of the day! First of all, it’s always great for the couple to be able to escape the wedding day chaos a bit and spend some quality time together away from everyone else. Wedding days can be hectic and stressful, so building this time in is so important. Tyler and Kayla chose to have a first look before the ceremony, followed by wedding day portraits. They had the most gorgeous scenery for their photos! It was a perfect fall day with the aspens just starting to change color. And there was an epic waterfall that we did portraits on! I will photograph couples on a waterfall every single day, thank you!
