These two are the sweetest couple and it was a blast celebrating their Colorado country wedding! I loved hearing their story of how Matthew proposed to Taylor. They met when a mutual friend introduced them and had an instant connection. They started dating shortly after, moved in together, and eventually bought a house together. This is how Taylor described the proposal.
“Matthew proposed to me in the master bedroom in our first home. He had it planned out so perfectly, he even was able to get my parents to come down early that morning to be there which was really special for me. He told me that we had a final walk through of the house with our realtor before we could officially start moving our stuff in. So we walked into the house and I was so excited about the new house I didn’t even see my parents in the kitchen standing there, all I saw was a giant heart painted on the wall with our initials painted inside. He ran into the master and was calling for me to come check it out. When I got to the room I saw “will you marry me?” painted on the wall and there he was on one knee waiting for me. I said yes of course!”
Colorado Country Wedding – Taylor + Matthew
Taylor not only had a very clear vision of her Colorado country wedding, but she made it happen! There were so many special elements that were meaningful to them but their wedding venue was just the perfect place to get married. Hatchet Ranch is just down the road from where Matthew grew up and the land has a view of Greenhorn, which is where they went on their first date. They also love the country feel and were so happy to find a rustic, ranch venue with a red barn that they could put their own touch on.
The day started with an amazing first look. First, Taylor had a first look with her Dad, then with Matthew. I think everyone cried. Those emotional moments are absolutely the best! At their ceremony, their grandma’s were the flower girls. I freaking love that they had them instead of little kids. So cute, right? The sun came out just in time for their ceremony, giving them stunning views of the mountains.
We did lots of newlywed portraits all over the property. I love that there are silos and tractors around the ranch to take photos by. It was perfect for this country couple! Matthew and Taylor are so goofy and I loved capturing all their silliness. If you saw my instagram story, we rode the golf cart of the venues and caught some air on the little ravines. Their wedding party was on board for it too which made the day so much fun! At the end of the night, I took them out again and we took some really fun portraits, where I got to play with some water and gelled lights!
