I love a good theme wedding! This one was so out of the ordinary and so much fun! Kristin and Joe went for a gothic, macabre wedding at Black Forest Wedgewood with black and blood red theme colors. It was amazing! I really had a lot of fun playing up the dark and moody look with their portraits. Between lighting and editing, there was so much room for me to play and these two were totally up for all my weird suggestions!

Joe and Kristin are such a fun couple! They met in the cutest way. They saw each other from across the room but both of them were too shy to go up to the other. After making eyes at each other all night until they finally had the courage to talk to each other. Then, months later, they finally went on a date. It was all worth the wait! On Christmas Eve, Joe surprised Kristin by asking her to marry him in front of her family!

Even though the theme of their wedding was dark and moody, the day was filled with love and silliness and joy and laughter. They said to me before their wedding that they love the dark and moody look without actually having to be dark and moody. I think that captured them perfectly. Their gothic theme fit them so well but at the same time, they are all smiles and so much fun. Their last name is Funck so as a wedding hashtag, they chose #funckytown19. I thought that was so clever! Oh, and in one of their newlywed portraits, the flower girl snuck into our photo without any of us noticing. See if you can find her!

This was my first wedding at this ceremony, although I have done many weddings at other Wedgewood venues. This one is super close to me so that was awesome! Yay for short commutes, right? I love that no matter where in Colorado you go, you can get gorgeous photos. Some of the most amazing photos are taken in the most unassuming location too. The nighttime portraits I did with these two with the night sky in the background were actually taken in a parking lot! Over the years, I have learned to find the hidden gems at any location and make amazing portraits no matter what!
