The Lodge at Cathedral Pines Wedding

Heather and Dave had a timeless, fall wedding at The Lodge at Cathedral Pines. They met through their previous company while they were both in their previous marriages. They were friends through each of their divorces and eventually began a long-distance relationship. Dave proposed to Heather on Coronado Island near San Diego, CA (where Heather is from). He planned a beautiful, private proposal on the beach when they were traveling to San Diego to visit her mom and to celebrate Heather’s 30th birthday in September 2018. Oh, how I wish I was photographing that proposal. It sounds amazing and gorgeous, right!?

Dave has three daughters from his previous marriage and they were a really important part of their day. Dave and Heather didn’t have a traditional wedding party. Instead, they stood up with their beautiful daughters during the ceremony. They even planned a special moment at the reception where Dave dances with each of them and then the whole family danced together. It was so sweet! Dave also surprised Heather with a tearful tribute video that made everyone in the room cry! All the guests had recorded a sweet message for them that he put together to show at the reception. It was like 17 minutes long and I swear I was trying not to cry the whole time!

The Lodge at Cathedral Pines Wedding

For their wedding day, they envisioned a timeless wedding celebration. They didn’t want include a lot of wedding trends and to focus on the marriage more than the wedding itself. Their whole focus for the day was on joining their two lives together as well as bringing all these different people together to celebrate. They chose to have their wedding at The Lodge at Cathedral Pines because they absolutely loved the natural setting in the woods and the gorgeous lodge itself. Dave’s family came all the way from New Zealand and almost all their guests came in from out of state, so they wanted to show off the amazing scenery Colorado has to offer. Since Dave and his family is from New Zealand, his mom gifted them tokens from the Maori tribe. It was a really beautiful moment.
