One of my favorite offerings as a baby photographer is milestone packages. I love it when my clients book milestone sessions because I get to document their baby’s whole first year and really watch them grow up. I truly think this is the most important time in a child’s life to document. Babies grow so freaking fast in that first year! Their faces change, their hair grows, their personality starts to come out. They learn to crawl, sit, stand, and even start talking. And it all goes by so fast! Before you know it, they’re toddlers, getting into everything and you can hardly even remember what they looked like at 6 months, or in those first few days of life. That’s why milestone sessions are so important!
Each session is so different from the next because babies change so much, so fast. With newborn sessions, babies are not moving around too much and are still sleeping a lot. That means, we get to capture those perfect, dreamy baby shots. They love being all swaddled up so we can put them in lots of different outfits and setups. At six months, most babies can sit up. Even if your baby isn’t there yet, there is still so much we can do with them. They aren’t crawling around much which makes things easier so we alternate from tummy time poses to back poses to sitting up, with help. I have lots of props to help them get into different poses and to keep them happy so we can get those great smiling photos!
Milestone Sessions – Colorado Baby Photographer
Things get a little more complicated with one-year photos, but that just means, they’re more fun, right? At one year, babies are crawling or even walking so they never stay in the same spot for long. A great solution to this is to do cake smash photos at their one-year-old session. The exciting new experience and sweet cake usually keeps them still for a while. It’s also a great time to photograph their favorite toys and fun props. Sometimes, I even bring them outside for a few photos. They have so much personality at this age and it is so fun to photograph them, even if it means chasing them around. Lol!
At the end of the first year, I absolutely love creating milestone albums of all the sessions we’ve done. It is the best way to see a baby’s first year and to really see how much they’ve changed. Baby’s love looking through these too at bedtime, when you can tell them stories about when they were younger.
