I was so excited to see Quinn again when she came into my studio for her baby girl birthday photos. I have been photographing this little cutie since before she was even born. Her mama booked my milestone package, so we did maternity photos, newborn portraits, 6 months and now her cake smash session for her first birthday! Maybe it’s just that the quarantine is be getting to me but I get so excited to see my milestone clients as they grow up. It is always a bit bittersweet when we do their first birthday sessions and they are officially on their way to becoming toddlers. And I keep thinking about how my one-year-old clients have spent half their lives in a pandemic. Isn’t that crazy to think about?
Quinn’s Baby Girl Birthday Photos
Since this mom has an older boy, she wanted to do a princess-themed cake smash for Quinn. We went all out with the girly theme! There was so much pink! So much glam! It was really fun to plan this session, especially as a mom of two boys. When planning your little one’s cake smash session, the first thing to do is to decide on the theme. I like to start planning these sessions around two months beforehand so when your baby is 10 months old. That gives us enough time to plan out the props, get the cake, and order any additional items needed for the sets.
When it comes to clothes, I have all of that covered as well. I have a whole closet full of outfits for babies, from newborn to one year old. I wrote all about it in this blog post if you want to take a look. For this session, we used a lot of outfits and props from my stash. Quinn’s mom got the smash cake from Icing on the Cake. And I think it’s safe to say Quinn was a fan!
