Colorado backyard wedding
2020’s challenges really brought innovation to the wedding industry. Due to a lot of unforeseen mandate, rule changes and venue issues, couples had to make spur of the moment changes and restructuring to their weddings nearly daily. As a result, many couples decided to do a Colorado backyard wedding and still have their dream day. With Katie + Matt, they luckily had a dream team of professionals and planners to make a regular home into a dream venue. Here are some considerations when planning a backyard wedding.
Tips and Tricks for planning a home wedding
First things first, you should check if the potential wedding venue home is zoned for an event like yours. If an HOA or neighbor hears about your event beforehand, they may put a stop to it before it even begins (which may be for the best). You’ll also need to check on noise ordinances and other local ordinances regarding parties.
Next, you should get yourself a planner and start contacting rental companies. You’ll need to see about having a tent, potentially a dance floor, portable restroom trailers, how much power the DJ will need and cable to run, valet attendants or shuttle transportation for all those guests, etc. They will be able to tell you what size your property can fit, how many guests per accommodations and what kind of wear and tear to your property you can expect from the day. Don’t dismiss these issues and deal with them head-on in the beginning to avoid big trouble later.
Lastly, there are few other considerations to take care of. A smaller issue is background. Today, maybe you have a view of the mountains or a forested area in the backyard. However, a year from now, will there be new construction? Will there be a new fence or busy road? It may be in the background of all your photos so be prepared and on the watch. A bigger but overlooked issue is liability especially for Colorado backyard weddings. Whether it’s wedding day insurance or additional home owners insurance, be sure to contact and add on wedding day insurance (like Wedsafe) for your day. This way, if something ruins your day, or a guest gets injured, etc, you will have coverage to cover the problem.
