Destination East Coast Vineyard Wedding
Travel is a natural part of being a wedding photographer. So much so in fact, that I have to have a mileage app every year to track my wedding journeys. However, I don’t just document wedding days in Colorado. I have traveled to California, Texas, the Florida Keys and even the Dominican Republic. Remarkably, this year, I’ll be traveling a lot going to Las Vegas, Louisville, Tennessee and Texas. All things considered, it might be worth seeing if you need some photos while I’m in one of this areas for my dates. This time though, I was on the East coast in Washington DC and Virginia countryside for Justin and Louis’ Destination East Coast Vineyard Wedding.
2 Groom + 1 Ring Bearer = 1 Family
This celebration was very near and dear to me. Justin, one of our handsome groom’s, I have known since middle school and was my swing dance partner in high school. They are 2 (of 4) amazing dads raising their son, Jasper. I was over the moon to come see their day and be a part of all their other festivities. One of the many benefits to hiring me as your destination wedding photographer. I come in early and stay late to cover rehearsal dinners, day after adventure sessions and in this case, wine tasting caravans! Loved all the historic, picturesque settings and yummy snacks and samples.
Of course, Justin and Louis saved the best for last at The Winery at La Grange. The property has several buildings on site for separate getting ready suites. The ceremony was a bit windy, but gorgeous with the vineyard and arch in the background. As it ended, a toast was held which ushered in the sunset. We made sure we documented it all, including a historic house, natural greenery tunnel, barn and wine barrel room. Honestly, I’m sure there was probably more but there was still another location and eating to be done!
After dark, the whole guest list ventured to Field and Main Restaurant. This was a treat because this was I believe a 5 or 6 course meal and even had the most amazing vegan options for my second photographer, Devon! I honestly think I could have paid her in food but I know better than that. After all of that, somehow we were supposed to have room for wedding cake! I made room but it was difficult. Then the sweetest Schitt’s Creek inspired wedding dance/lap dance ended the night.
Although, that is not the end of the journey! There was one more thing to do. A day after engagement session! Since these two live in the Carolinas and myself in Colorado, we hadn’t done any engagement photos. So, in this quaint little town in Virginia, we found a wonderful setting to end the weekend but start a beautiful marriage and life.
