Cheesman Park Wedding | Stephanie + RJ

I had never met Stephanie or RJ before their wedding day but I instantly knew the relationship between these two was so authentic and real.  And when they were together there was beautiful magic between them. They had a gorgeous, classic Cheesman Park wedding in the pavilion, with plenty of sentimental, personal touches.

RJ and I have something in common: eccentric mothers.  His for example gave him 8 birth names, one of which is Amadeus. Stephanie miraculously knows all of them. His real name is Robin. RJ and I both grew up without father’s as well, although I think it might have effected him more as there were some very funny toast stories about RJ not being able to use a screwdriver! Thankfully Stephanie has that covered. 🙂

Cheesman Park Wedding | Stephanie + RJ

Denver’s Cheesman Park has natural daytime beauty of a park but I was surprised at the night time sunset with Downtown Denver in the background. It was stunning! At first, I thought, “why don’t I come here more often at night?” and then I instantly remembered as the vast cast of characters that we encountered in the park came out. Plus, that place is totally haunted!

During the wedding, they had a foot washing ceremony. It was a very tender, intimate moment and it showed how much they cared for one another. Later during the reception, Stephanie wore a shawl during the evening was worn by both her mother and grandmother at their own weddings. I had to make sure to get a photo of the three of them together before the night was over. I just love sentimental touches like this!

At Stephanie and RJ’s reception, they had a unique twist to the cake cutting.  They really wanted to get photos of them smashing cake into each other’s faces, at the reception. They had their guests put cash in a “bride” jar or a “groom” jar and whoever had the most cash at the end of the night, got a cupcake smashed in their face by their new spouse. RJ lost by a landslide and with a red velvet cupcake, it made for some pretty epic photos! Good thing they didn’t get it on the dress!  But take a look for yourself at all of the personal touches and stunning images from their wedding day.
