Gabriel is one of my milestone babies! His mom booked a package of four sessions with me and this is the last of them, his one-year milestone! For his one year photos, we had a ton of fun. First, we did some in studio portraits then, some family photos outside and to top it all off, we had a safari cake smash back in the studio!
Little Gabriel was in the NICU for about four months so all of his milestones are a bit off. For babies like him, we go by when they can do certain things like sit up or stand and walk. We actually missed the maternity session, since he came so early and unexpectedly. Instead, I photographed him in the NICU and then when he was able to go home, we did his newborn session. Gabriel is about 15 months in these photos for his one-year milestone session.
Safari Cake Smash!
I loved putting together the safari setup for his cake smash! A cake is included in every cake smash session and I always put together fun setups in the studio too! We decided on this theme because in the NICU, the nurses give all the babies nicknames and he was their Lionheart! It turned out to be a very fitting name for him too. Now that he’s growing up, he thinks it’s hilarious to roar at people, like a lion. Unfortunately, that includes kids in the daycare who sometimes do not like to be roared at.
After we did some traditional one-year portraits, we went ouside into the field next to my studio. There we did family photos with Gabriel’s mom and dad. They turned out so sweet, don’t you think? I love that we got to have everyone together. Then, we went back into the studio for the cake smash part of the session. We set up a safari theme with Gabriel as the lion! I crocheted him a lion hat to wear for his photos and we had other animals behind him. The cake had a lion’s face on the top with silhouettes of safari animals on the side. It looked like the Lion King! Gabriel looked so cute in his little lion hat and he loved his cake too!
