I love traveling and my favorite places to go are tropical islands. I love the Caribbean and I’ve now completely fallen in love with Hawaii! Driving around Oahu is like driving I-70 into the Rocky Mountains, except in Jurassic Park! The greenery is crazy big and stunning and then there’s a beach too. It’s a total dream world!
A former client of mine got stationed out there and then had their second child. Since I photographed their first’s newborn session and milestones, they booked me to capture newborn photos of their youngest. While I was out there, I decided to photograph a destination beach couples session so I had some images to share of couples on the beach. It’s not so easy to get beach photos here in Colorado! Through a friend of a friend, Mario and Katie found me and were happy to model for me! Booking more than one session during a trip makes things so much easier. A few sessions in a tropical place totally justifies an island vacation!
Destination Beach Couples Session
For Katie and Mario’s couples session, we went to a few different locations. The beaches on the east side of Oahu are just stunning. You can see the mountains and the light is gorgeous around sunset. We started the session at the Bellows Air Force base beach. Then we went to Makapu’u Lighthouse further south and a nearby beach. The lighthouse has actually a hike but we just did a quick trip to the view from the parking lot lol. I mean it’s a stunning view regardless 🙂 If I had all the time in the world there would have been so many more excursions and photos but I guess I’ll just have to book another trip to check some more off the list.
