Spruce Mountain Ranch Wedding | Kayla + Nick

Kayla & Nick met in college in a chance encounter and have been together ever since. I loved capturing their summer engagement session (which had a trampoline in it!) and we even took photos of their whole family in the summer as well. However, their amazing Spruce Mountain Ranch wedding was in January which is bold but beautiful when a couple isn’t afraid of having an outdoor, winter wedding.

This wedding turned out to be absolutely amazing and the weather cooperated pretty well for us. It was actually pretty warm outside on their wedding day and they didn’t get any snow. Snow always makes for gorgeous wedding couple photos but it can also push an outdoor ceremony inside or prevent family and friends from getting to your wedding at all. Remember that snow storm from a few days ago that grounded flights and shut down highways? Due to The Bomb Cyclone? I’d say these two got pretty lucky!

Kayla and Nick put a lot of thought into their Ponderosa wedding details. Nick and his groomsmen had some really nice ties, with a beautiful floral pattern. It went so well with the mountain backdrop! All the groomsmen and the ringbearer had neck ties but Nick had a bowtie. Like, a real bowtie rather than a clip on. The problem was, no one knew how to tie a bowtie! They spent about half an hour trying to find someone who could tie it for him. Finally, they found one of the Peak Beverage bartenders who knew how to do it. Problem solved this time but lesson learned, make sure you practice those bad boys before you commit for your wedding day!

By the way, Nick is a NASCAR engineer. How cool is that! He’s probably not wearing bowties to work, on a daily basis though. Hopefully, he’ll never have to wear one again and if he does, I hope there’s a handy bartender nearby!
