A mountain chic Aspen wedding on a gorgeous summer’s day, is just the dream, right? That’s exactly the day that Patrick and Megan had. Everything was perfect, the weather, the view, the details, everything! They envisioned a fun, casual, romantic day to celebrate their love and the beginning of their marriage surrounded by friends and family. That’s exactly what they got.
Megan and Patrick’s first date was at Heather’s Tapas Bar in Basalt. They hit it off immediately with comfortable conversation and so much chemistry. They both went home beaming and already excited to see each other again. On their second date, Patrick packed a grandiose picnic and a blanket, and they had dinner and wine on the top of Mushroom Rock overlooking Mount Sopris in Carbondale. They’ve been adventuring together since then! Patrick and Megan got engaged during a trip to Amsterdam. Their incredible day was filled with bicycling around the city, a romantic boat cruise, and a lovely Italian dinner. Then, Patrick popped the question as they were walking around the canals at sunset. Megan said, “of course!” In the spirit of partnership and equality, a few weeks later Megan also proposed to Patrick, on a hike at Mushroom Rock, the location of their second date.
Mountain Chic Aspen Wedding – Megan + Patrick
Megan and Patrick had their wedding in a location that was so meaningful to them. Carbondale is a special place for them because that’s where Megan was living when their relationship started and where their love started to blossom. They had thought about having the wedding in Denver for reasons of convenience but the Roaring Fork Valley was so special to them that they knew they had to make the trip. For me, well that meant 8 hours of driving for an 8 hour wedding day, but it was so worth it! That location is just unbeatable!
The Old Thompson Barn matched their envisioned aesthetic for the day. Most importantly it features a prominent view of Mt. Sopris, a place near and dear to their hearts. The location is so convenient too. It’s right in the town of Carbondale but feels rural and rustic with the old barn aesthetic and the surrounding golf course. Megan and Patrick also wanted their day to be an intimate event, so this venue was the perfect size.
