When I met up with Nicole and Jacob at our engagement session last year at Rocky Mountain National Park and I could immediately tell how in love these two were. They were so snuggly and sweet throughout their whole fall engagement session. It was adorable and we got some fantastic photos! When I got home from that session, I was so excited for their modern farmhouse wedding at Flying Horse Ranch in the summer! I just couldn’t wait to photograph this adorable couple again!
Jacob and Nicole met while they were attending college in Iowa City. Nicole’s sister and her friend Kaitlin were visiting for Homecoming Weekend and they went out to a bar called Shorts. That’s where they all met Jacob and his best friend Nate. Nicole and Jacob hit it off right away that night! After graduating from college and dating for a while, Jacob popped the question. They were out at Nicole’s parent’s house with Nate, looking out over the mountains, when he asked and of course, she said yes!

I loved this wedding’s dancing photos so much. this group was so much fun and they definitely knew how to party! Nicole and Jacob’s romantic sunset newlywed portraits might be some of my favorites ever! They had an absolutely perfect sunset on their special day. In fact, there was a double sunset (yes two sunsets!) but we only made it out for one of them since we were getting ready for their first dance during the other.
Weddings like this one where I stay and photograph everything from getting ready to the couple’s send off are really long! I’ll be honest, it can be exhausting to run around and be on my feet (not to mention carry heavy camera gear) for that many hours. But, getting to part of the whole wedding day from start to finish and being there to capture every moment is such an honor. When I look back through the photos (after sleeping in as late as I can and maybe taking a long bath. Lol!) I know it was all more than worth it.
