Elaine and Taylor had a jaw-droppingly gorgeous backyard Parker wedding last month. They originally planned a big celebration on one of the year’s most popular dates, 8/8, but opted to change things up so they could keep their families safe. They had a smaller elopement, with just local family in attendance instead. Next year, they’ll have that big party they planned at Spruce Mountain Ranch. These two have the sweetest story. Their families have been close for over a decade so they’ve known each other since they were kids. They don’t even remember meeting for the first time, that’s how long it’s been. Their families even have Thanksgiving together most years! At some point, Elaine asked Taylor to do a 24-hour outdoorsy scavenger hunt with her and they started dating soon after. That sounds like so much fun!
Backyard Parker Wedding – Elaine + Taylor
Taylor and Elaine were long-distance while she finished school in North Carolina. Taylor had promised Elaine that they would be engaged before she graduated but she expected him to propose on his last planned trip out in April. In March, he surprised her by flying in from New Mexico to what Elaine thought was going to be her senior portrait session. She was so excited to see him that she hardly even let him propose! He had to pry her off of him in order to get down on one knee. Then, she almost knocked the ring into the lake because she was so excited!
This wedding was full of sweet moments. Elaine wanted a father-daughter first look, where her dad surprised her with a beautiful pearl necklace. The first look between the bride and groom was also really important to both of them. They brought their adorable dogs along, who got to see (and sniff) Elaine before Taylor did. The strap on Elaine’s dress actually broke before the first look but there’s nothing that can’t be quickly fixed on a wedding day! For the family members who weren’t local or couldn’t make it, they had a Zoom call during the ceremony so those far away could still be there. I love all the creative ways people are finding to include everyone these days.
