Holly and Zach had a gorgeous California destination wedding in Santa Ana. After rescheduling twice due to the pandemic, they were finally able to get married in their friend’s backyard. Of course, it was an absolutely beautiful day (thanks to California weather!) These two live in Colorado but they both grew up in California and they wanted to get married close to their friends and family. The area they chose to get married in was so gorgeous! I found this adorable walking path and the most incredible flower wall for the newlywed photos. It was all just a few blocks from the house too!

This wasn’t the first time I’ve photographed this couple either. Last year, I got to take newborn photos for their daughter Payton. Before the wedding, Holly told me that she is pregnant with their second child! We made sure to take a couple of photos commemorating the exciting news. I love that I get to capture families as their story unfolds!
One of my favorite things about photographing destination weddings is that they are the perfect opportunity for a road trip! My second photographer and I drove all the way out to Santa Ana to capture this day. Of course, we made the most of it! On the way there, we drove through Monte Vista and Flagstaff and hit up the beach. After the wedding, we drove through Las Vegas and stopped at Bryce Canyon. I love Colorado but I miss the ocean so, so much. It was such a treat to get to hang out on the beach again and see so many beautiful places. And it was all part of a business trip too!
