Cynthia and Josh wanted snowy, winter engagement photos and they love the mountains. We chose Lake Dillon because it always looks so beautiful in the winter. Lake Dillon is one of my favorite engagement session locations. It has all the best that Colorado has to offer: a glistening alpine lake, evergreen forests, and the snow-capped Rocky Mountains! Plus, it’s really easy to get to. It’s not far off I-70 and there’s no big hike to get to the best photo spots. It was the perfect location for Josh and Cynthia’s session.
Cynthia and Josh were so much fun to work with. They have amazing chemistry. They laughed and played through the whole session which luckily was warm for a December in Colorado. These two originally planned to have their wedding last year, but they postponed it to September 2021. They’ll be getting married in Breckenridge. I cannot wait until their big day finally comes! I know all my postponing couples are so anxious to get married and I know it will be completely worth the wait. They have their whole lives together, so what’s the rush, right?
Winter Engagement Photos at Lake Dillon
Last year, the lake was completely frozen over but it’s a bit too early in the season for that. That meant we got the winter sun glistening off the lake. It was gorgeous! I love taking advantage of the sun reflecting in the water by taking silhouette shots. Even though the lake wasn’t frozen and it was pretty warm the day of our session, there was still plenty of snow up at Lake Dillon. I’m a California girl at heart, so I’m not a huge fan of the snow. These two snow bunnies looked so cute all cozied up in each other’s arms though. They were right at home in the mountains. I love their outfits too! They are the perfect inspiration for winter engagement photos!
