2020 never ceased to surprise me! I’m a Colorado proposal photographer and I photographed so many proposals last year, despite so many saying that 2020 has been the worst year ever. For a lot of people, 2020 will always be the year they got married, the year they landed their dream job, the year they had a baby, the year they got engaged! I really believe that the pandemic has brought people closer together. We were forced to spend more time with those closest to us. We were forced to slow down, to rely on each other, and not to take anything or anyone for granted. For a lot of couples, I think the pandemic helped them realize that they want to be with each other for the rest of their lives. I mean if you can be happy stuck with the same person 24/7, that’s a pretty good sign!

For this amazing couple, 2020 will always be the year they got pregnant AND the year they got engaged! This awesome guy came to me to plan the perfect proposal for his girlfriend. As a Colorado photographer, I have a lot of experience planning surprise proposals. I helped him choose a picturesque but private location for him in Garden of the Gods. The spot also had to be an easy hike because his girlfriend was about 20 weeks pregnant (and wearing high heels!). I took a few photos of them walking up from the parking lot and you can see it’s not a long hike. There are still incredible views though!
I hid behind a rock formation so I wouldn’t give away the big surprise, but I made a marker for him to know where I wanted him to stand. Well, my kids made it. Lol! I hung a pinecone dipped in colorful paint on a tree, the perfect combo of noticeable but natural. Actually, it was so noticeable that tourists kept stopping to look at it! Everything went perfectly and she was so happy! I popped out after the proposal and introduced myself. Then we took some engagement photos with the blue skies and America’s Mountain, Pikes Peak, in the background!
