Themed newborn sessions are so much fun. I have done countless themes based on all sorts of things. The season the baby was born or a nearby holiday. A favorite movie or sports team. Interests from fishing to motorcycles. The baby’s heritage. The occupations of the parents. I’ve even done a photography themed session!
Here are some of my favorite themed newborn sessions from the past few years. Connor’s mom is a photographer like me so we had fun together, creating these photography themed newborn portraits. Constantine is the son of a Greek father and a Native American mother and we incorporated both of his heritages into his session. Isabella was born right around Christmas so we did a Christmas and winter themed photoshoot for her. We even incorporated some of her parent’s ski gear:
Themed Newborn Sessions – Baby Malachi
And of course, this one is right up there with the rest. At Baby Malachi’s session, we did a couple of different themes. His room is all space themed so we did a ton of space photos. Aren’t they so much fun! We incorporated a few items that the parents had and some of them use digital backgrounds in addition to or instead. With digital backgrounds, your options for themes are pretty much limitless. We did a train car photo and a fall photo as well, using these backgrounds.
Malachi’s dad is in the military so we used his helmet and uniform to take a few military themed photos to honor his service. And of course no newborn session is complete without the traditional wrapped poses and photos with Mom and Dad. We also incorporated a super cute fox hat and a personalized blanket with his name on it. I had so much fun creating these photos of Malachi. I am so glad his parents will always have these memories of him when he was oh so little.
